The California State Poker Championship is under way at Commerce Casino in Southern California. The tournament series will feature 24 events in all, including a $5,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em championship with a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million that begins on May 22. The series began with a $200 casino industry employees no-limit hold’em event on Apr. 30.
Games spread will include no-limit and limit hold’em, six-handed and heads-up no-limit hold’em, Omaha eight-or-better, H.O.R.S.E., seven-card stud, and seven-card stud eight-or-better. There will be one $200 no-limit hold’em event with multiple rebuys hosted on May, 9, with a $200,000-guaranteed prize pool. There will be nine events with guaranteed prize pools at the tournament series, and all but three events will earn Player of the Year points.
